Matilda and The Attic Pt. IOnce upon a time there was a young girl who lived in a house purely of her fathers devising. It was a large house, as big and tall as any castle or fortress. It was run through with gears that would groan and churn in the walls, and pipes that would belch out clouds of scalding steam and whistle, and all manner of clocks that chimed and chirped and chipped away at the seconds of every day. Each clock kept a different time, and ran at a different pace so that they would ring at nearly every hour with little to no warning.
